Letter: What happened to the good old days? (July 10, 2008)

Editor:
You could go to the store with a dollar and buy a loaf of bread, a pound of butter, a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of soda. Gasoline was 25 cents a gallon. You could leave your house doors unlocked, keys in your cars and money on the table and didn’t worry about it. If you got caught taking money from somebody’s wallet you might get your fingers whacked or broken.
Unfortunately times have changed. Now food prices have soared, you have to secure everything you own, gasoline is $4 a gallon and you cant whack those who keep putting their fingers in our wallets like our elected officials insist on doing over again and over again.
So all we can do now is try to be frugal, lock up our house and cars, conserve gasoline as much as possible and rid ourselves of those who keep dipping their fingers into our wallets.
New officials with common sense thinking and spending are needed and needed now.
Remember this at election time.
