Police Notes for May 22, 2008

LOST AND FOUND
Sanford police received a call from an unknown caller who reported finding a stolen car in a parking lot on Patriots Lane. Police said the 2005 Sierra GMC was stolen from Kent Street on May 11.

WITNESSED
An ice cream deliveryman called police to report seeing a man in a green minivan hitting a woman. He told police the woman fell out of the van and ran off. The man allegedly told the woman he was going to blow up the vehicle and then he lit a match. Police said a warrant would be issued for the man’s arrest for domestic assault and criminal threatening.
 
CONFLICTING STORIES
A caller reported to police a man choking a child at a Roberts Street Park. When police arrived, they found a 15 year old boy who told police he was assaulted by the man for “no reason.” However, police said witnesses told them the boy was the aggressor.
 
DRIVE-THROUGH HAIR SALON
Police said a 24-year-old woman lost control of her car  and crashed into two cars parked at Stranz at Hand Hair Salon on Main Street. Police said the woman’s car pushed a 2005 Chevy into the side of the building causing about $5,000 worth of damage to the building in addition to $3,000 worth of damage to the vehicle. Her car also hit a four-door Nissan, which then crashed into a 2006 Saturn causing $2,000 worth of damage to the Saturn. Police said damage to the Nissan was estimated at about $3,000. Police said the woman and her 27-year-old passenger had facial injuries, but both were wearing seatbelts. Police said driver inattention or distraction caused the accident.
 
FORGET SOMETHING?
An Irving Mainway employee called police to report an unknown man sitting in the employee’s car drinking a beer. Police said the man left before they arrived, but forgot a bag containing several prescription medications with his name on them. The man was caught in the bowling alley parking lot next door, police said. He was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.
 
NO CAT BURGLAR
Lloyds Auto Sales reported vandalism to one of its vehicles. Police said a side window was smashed out of a car and the center console was heavily damaged. Police said it appeared someone tried to steal the stereo.
 
DING-DING! MAY I SEE YOUR LICENSE?
Police received a call about two people fighting in front of Golden Palace. Police said it was a “consensual” fight and both men were wearing boxing gloves. Police issued the men disorderly conduct and criminal trespass warnings because the men were fighting or boxing without a license.

FAMILY VIOLENCE
Police received a call about a physical fight on Emery Street. Police said a 17-year-old boy shoved another person through the window of a car, punched his own girlfriend and pushed his cousin. Police said the boy took off on foot, but police found him after following a trail of blood. The boy was transported to the hospital where police said he broke his eyeglasses and cut himself and then began spitting on everyone in the emergency room. Police said there was blood on all four walls of the room, as well as on the ceiling and floor. The boy was charged with several counts of criminal assault, domestic assault and criminal threatening.
