Paul V. Grant
Paul V. Grant, 93, of Sanford, died Feb. 14 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a long illness.
He was born in Calais on Aug. 8, 1914, the son of Charles V. and Phelonise (Melanson) Grant, came to this area as a child and attended the former St. Ignatius School.
Paul was a veteran of the US Navy during World War II.
Upon his return after the war, he was employed with Universal Shoe and then with the Maremont Corp. in Saco, from where he retired several years ago.
He was a communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish at Notre Dame Church in Springvale. Paul was a member of the VFW in Sanford and the Knights of Columbus in Springvale.
An outdoors enthusiast, he enjoyed hunting and loved picking apples in the fall. He had many relatives in Canada and liked to travel in his motor home to visit with them. He always had projects going around the house and could be found puttering away at them most any time.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Thelma V. (Newbegin) Grant of Sanford, a daughter, Jackie Vezina and her husband Roger of Florida, a sister, Beatrice Griffin of Sanford, a half sister, Bertha Tremblay of Connecticut, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
