Thomas Dresser
Thomas E. Dresser, 37, of Alfred died Jan. 20 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born with his twin brother, March 9, 1970 in Quincy, Mass., to Kenneth P. and Donna V. (Cadger) Dresser. His family moved to Sanford in 1973 and Dresser graduated from Sanford High School with the class of 1989. He was known to be quite a flirt with the girls and enjoyed taking art and drawing classes. He grew up with his mother’s homemade cooking, long before micro waves and processed food out of a bag. He began a lifelong passion for cooking and entertaining with food. His adult life was spent in the food industry and he worked at Mulligan’s in Sanford for three years.
Dresser loved the outdoors and spending time camping at Province Lake near Laconia, N.H. Fishing took up a good part of his day with the rest of the time swimming, exploring and being close to his animals. He admired eagles, their majestic nature and sense of freedom. He took comfort and strength from these beautiful birds. He enjoyed playing board games, Yatzee, Scrabble and Poker. Country music would be his choice of music playing in the background.
He was active in his children’s lives, participating with the Sanford-Springvale Youth Athletic Association. It didn’t matter the season, for each one kept them busy and happy. He was a tried and true Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was non-judgmental and he cared for his family and others. Within those deep, piercing blue eyes, you could see a man who wanted to fight to win… Thomas, you fought with courage and conviction – we will never forget you.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Dresser of Alfred; his identical twin brother, James Dresser of Sanford; his children, Derek, Brandon and Alexandria; his niece, Jessica Marie Dresser of North Berwick and his nephew, James Dresser, Jr. of Saco; and many friends and “adopted family members.” He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Dresser, Jr.
