Brooklyn Marie Johnson
    Brooklyn Marie Johnson, infant daughter Joshua D. Johnson and Brittany M. Stevens, died Saturday, Jan. 12 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.
     Surviving are her parents, Joshua D. Johnson and Brittany M. Stevens of Sanford; paternal grandparents Patti and David Brown of Sanford; maternal grandmother, Christine Stevens of Springvale; maternal grandfather, Mark Stevens and his companion Tracie Daney of Acton; paternal great-grandfather, James L. Johnson of Sanford; an uncle, Kyle Lester Brown of Sanford and an aunt, Crystal Reynolds of Mississippi.
    A graveside service will be held in the spring at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford. Phrilla Lessard
Phrilla Lessard, 83, of Sanford, died unexpectedly at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford Jan. 2.
She was born in Sanford Dec. 13, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Cora (Erett) Lessard. She was a 1943 graduate of Spaulding High School in Rochester, N.H.
A resident of Chicago, Ill. for 31 years, she was employed at the Davidson Bakery in Chicago. Phrilla travelled all over the United States and had seen every state. There are no known survivors.
Burial will be in the spring at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth, N.H. Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.

Jean-Charles Gregoire
Jean-Charles Gregoire, 86, of Sanford, died Jan. 13 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a lengthy illness.
He was born in East Broughton, Quebec, Canada on Nov. 5, 1921, the son of Adonias and Yvonne (Parent) Gregoire. He came to this area as an infant and attended Holy Family School. Mr. Gregoire was a veteran of the US Army, having served during World War II.
He was employed for 49 years with Jagger Brothers, starting as a bobbin boy in the spinning room and retiring in 1985 as the plant superintendent. For 25 years, he also owned and operated a fence company.
A communicant of St. Thérèse Parish, St. Ignatius Church, he served on the parish council, the Family Life Commission and the Finance Committee.
He was active in several local groups including the Sanford Knights of Columbus, the Sanford Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels, was active in the Boy Scouts and helped to construct the helipad at Goodall Hospital.
In 1998, he was asked to served as the Grand Marshall for the annual fourth of July parade in Sanford.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lucienne (Roy) Gregoire of Sanford, five daughters, Rachel Lafrinea and her husband Brenton of Poland Spring, Priscilla Iappini and her husband Paul of Melrose, Mass., Jeannette Lamontagne and her husband Paul, Patti Langlois and her husband Paul, Joanne Langlais and her husband Kevin, all of Sanford, a sister, Lorraine Roy of Sanford, 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Burial will be in the spring in St. Ignatius Cemetery. The Gregoire family would like to express its appreciation to William F. Frank, MD, to the staff of Marland II at Goodall Hospital and to the staff of Beacon Hospice for the extraordinary care and support shown to him and to them during his illness.

Frances L Brackett
Frances L Brackett, 84, a resident of Shapleigh for 40 years, was born on Aug. 29, 1923 in Sanford to Henry and Nellie Gillings Cofran, and died Monday, Jan. 14 at the Newton Center in Sanford.
Frances attended Longfellow and Emerson schools. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1941. Frances worked in the cost department of the Sanford Goodall Mills, the Sanford and eastern Railroad, the Sanford Trust Company, and for the John Hancock Insurance Company, from which she retired.
Frances was widowed in 1955 after six years of marriage to Edgar Cole of Portland. Frances remarried, and was later widowed in 2002 after 45 years of marriage to Melvin S. Brackett.
Additionally, her parents and her brother Willie Cofran predecease Frances.
Frances is survived by her brother Norman (Ethel) Cofran of Winston Salem, N.C., Melvin’s daughters Stella B. Andrews of Portland, and Ellen B. Leaf D.D.S. of San Mateo, Calif. She leaves two grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Nichols of North Waterboro and Douglas Simpson of Portland. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren. Mark deserves many thanks for all the assistance, caring and time that he has devoted to Frances over the past few months.
After retirement Frances was active in the 55 plus, AARP, and the Red Hat Society. Frances has been a lifelong member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church of Sanford. She was a frequent visitor to all the nursing and retirement homes in the Sanford-Springvale area. She was attentive to many elderly and lonely people and tried to brighten their lives by giving them special treats at all of the holidays and especially the sharing of her time which expressed the inherent value of these people.
Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in South Waterboro in the spring of 2008. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to the Crossroads United Methodist Church, PO box 290, Springvale, ME 04083, or the charity of one’s choice.
